4th year - Reading recommendations

In class we are now seeing something about English history, in particular about Henry VIII and his six wives. If anybody has an especial interest in reading something more about that period and the Tudors in general, there is an English author who writes novels about this part of English history. Her name is Philippa Gregory and in case anyone wants to know, here are the titles of her books on the period.

- Philippa Gregory. The Other Boleyn Girl . This novel is about Henry's first and second wives: Katherine of Aragon and Anne Boleyn. This is one of the most popular books of the author and there is a film based on the novel, starred by Scarlet Johanson and Natalie Portman. Click here to see some selections of scenes of the film.

- Philippa Gregory. The Queen's Fool. This book is about Henry's daughters, Mary I (also called Bloody Mary) and Elizabeth I, and their relationship.

- Philippa Gregory. The Virgin's Lover. This novel is about Elizabeth I as a queen and her relationship with the man who was supposedly her true love, Robert Dudley.

- Philippa Gregory. The Constant Princess. This beautiful book tells us the story of Katherine of Aragon, who left Spain to marry Arthur, the heir to the English throne, and how she managed to survive and become queen again after her husband died just a year after their wedding. This is a must-read. :)

-Philippa Gregory. The Boleyn Inheritance. A novel about Henry's fourth and fifth wives, Katherine Howard and Anne of Cleves. Beautiful book.
